In Our Groove?

In Our Groove?

It's been a few weeks since I sat down to pen a few words about life running Brooklyn's (and New York City's) only homebrew shop. We had winter holidays, then we took our kids to Disney... so it's been a bit getting back into the groove of things.

As a side note: the day we were at Epcot my kids were getting hungry and cranky, so I said to them "you know what we need right now? Sausages and beer! Let's go to Germany!" They kindly reminded me that they are too young for beer but decided to come along anyway. They are now infatuated with German food - so send me your best Brooklyn/Manhattan German recommendations!

I've been back over a week now, and things are starting to feel normal again. We're getting up in the morning, getting to school and work, and all the other things that feel "normal." I used to pause and wonder what was really going wrong when things started to feel normal, but I've since learned to let it ride as long as I can.

Which is why when I think about Forever Homebrewing, I feel the exact opposite. We've been open about six weeks now, and it does feel like we've hit a bit of a groove. My days have more of a pattern now; fulfill orders and get them prepped for shipping, check emails and socials, work on all the multitude of online shop tasks I have, help anyone that comes in, sweep the floor, head home.

So of course we want to throw a spanner in that, because that's what you do.

We're hearing so much great feedback from all of you - it's why we're getting CO2 very soon - and we know that we need to figure out how to be open more for you all to come in. If you haven't already, please take a moment and fill out our hours survey so we can see where more hours are needed most.

As dads, it's been quite the life shakeup for both Rob and I to open Forever Homebrewing. We've had to very quickly learn how to balance the new responsibilities of a small business with existing responsibilities we had with families, jobs, pets, marriages, apartments, everything.

We found a groove pretty quickly, and I'm sure we'll do it again once we expand our hours. We just hope you all can visit us soon and often.
