Matt and Rob on move in day at Forever Homebrewing

Ten Gallons of Grain in a Five Gallon Bucket

This is my first blog post written in our space. I'm sitting here early this morning (somewhat) patiently awaiting the arrival of a freezer for our hop storage, and I was hoping that I would be first on the delivery docket.

We have moved in and spent hours arranging and rearranging everything in this room. I can hear all of you now, dear readers, asking the question aloud: "but where are you? Where is this space of which you speak?" I want to tell you, but there is one annoying piece of paper we have to wait for before we can drop all the details.

When we began this journey, Rob and I were lucky enough to purchase a lot of the furniture that used to be part of another shop. That shop was bigger than the room I'm sitting in, and I would be lying if I said that I took the time to measure out all that furniture and to see how it would best fit into this space. No, in fact I did no such thing. We loaded that furniture and gear into a truck, put it in storage, and then moved it again over here.

Let me tell you, we have too much stuff. We have a surplus of shelving and display racks and such that I have buried in the back corner of our room to await what we hope will be a future larger space (in a year, maybe two). At the moment, it really feels like we have tried to cram ten gallons of grain into a five gallon bucket - and we haven't even received any shipments from our suppliers yet.

Rob and I were here in the shop Sunday night cleaning, rearranging, and generally getting our ducks in a row when we noticed that what was once a very echoey room was already feeling less so. It's still quiet (save for the sound of my typing, the HVAC, and "Complete Control" by The Clash that just came on Spotify). I can't wait until this space has the sound of you all coming in to say hi and get ingredients to make more beer.

Keep an eye out for an email from us about our location, hours, and all that information that we know you want. Fingers crossed it'll be out later this week. Until then, enjoy the picture of Rob and I on the day we moved in.
