This Is The New Year
Share
It's a quiet day here at Forever Homebrewing. Our building is surprisingly quiet; I haven't heard or seen many people walk down our hallway. Maybe everyone is still on an extended holiday vacation. Maybe they're all still recovering.
I spent my NYE in Times Square at a party hosted by one of my wife's partners. When I was younger Times Square looked fun, but now that I've actually seen it I know that if I hadn't been inside for most of the night I wouldn't go there to celebrate. It was a solid party, though.
Thinking back to one year ago and I would never have guessed I'd be sitting where I am right now. This time last year I was getting ready to take my kids to Disney for the first time and looking forward to another year as a stay at home dad. Lots of school drop offs and pick ups and hours having a kick around at the playground with my guys.
I did get lots of those things, and I'm very glad I did. Time is a fleeting thing and I'm glad I've been able to be around to watch them grow up as much as I have been. You don't get a second chance watching your kids grow up.
But this is a new year, and with it come the new challenges of being a business owner. In all honesty the reason Forever Homebrewing has started life with such odd hours is simply because Rob and I are still trying to figure out how to balance being small business owners and dads/husbands at the same time. I know my challenge is going to be to figure out how to keep the shop open when everyone else isn't working and still make it home for dinner (because I cook it). It will get figured out.
Rob and I are working on some exciting things for 2025 that I wish we were ready to tell you about right now, but it's going to be a bit yet. We're trying to stay excited and to help you all both get and stay excited about Forever Homebrewing. It's going to be a great year for all of us. It has to be.
